Al-Falah University Faridabad Issued Show-Cause Notice by NAAC Over Fake Accreditation Claims

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah University, Faridabad, for allegedly displaying false and misleading accreditation information on its official website. The council has demanded an explanation from the university, asking it to justify why legal or disciplinary action should not be taken and why it should not be barred from future accreditation processes.

NAAC Flags False Accreditation Claims

According to the NAAC notice, Al-Falah University’s website claimed that its School of Engineering & Technology and School of Education and Training were accredited by the council. However, NAAC clarified that the accreditation for these institutions had expired several years ago and that the university itself has never been accredited.

As per records:

  • School of Engineering & Technology was accredited from March 2013 to March 2018
  • Department of Teacher Education was accredited from 2011 to 2016
  • Both had received Grade ‘A’ during their valid period but did not apply for renewal under the second accreditation cycle.
  • NAAC stated that the university’s continued display of expired accreditation status was “misleading to students, parents, and stakeholders.”

UGC Seeks Detailed Report from the University

Following the NAAC notice, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has sought a detailed report from Al-Falah University. The commission has requested information about:

  • The alleged misrepresentation of accreditation
  • The university’s response to the NAAC notice
  • Steps taken by the institution to correct or clarify the information publicly
  • Senior officials confirmed that the UGC is also reviewing the university’s overall compliance and may initiate further action depending on the outcome of the inquiry.

Connection to Ongoing Investigation

The development comes amid the ongoing Delhi car blast investigation near Red Fort earlier this week, in which three staff members from Al-Falah University’s School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre — Umar Un Nabi, Muzammil Shakeel, and Shaheen Saeed — were detained for questioning.

While no direct link between the university administration and the blast has been officially established, the timing of the NAAC notice has drawn public attention to the institution’s operations and compliance record.

Possible Actions from NAAC and UGC

In the show-cause notice, NAAC warned that it may recommend the following actions if the university fails to provide a satisfactory response:

  • Legal or disciplinary proceedings for misrepresentation
  • Debarment from future accreditation processes
  • Recommendation to UGC for withdrawal of recognition under Sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act
  • Advisory to the National Medical Commission (NMC) to review recognition of the university’s medical college
  • The university has been given a limited timeframe to respond to the notice and clarify its position.
