Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), located at Punjagutta, Hyderabad, Telangana, is a premier state-run medical university and hospital. NIMS Hyderabad was established in 1989 and functions as both a state university and a public hospital. It is approved by the UGC and recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The institute offers programs at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, super‑specialty, and doctoral levels, including MBBS, B.Sc., BPT, MD, MS, MPT, MHM, DM, M.Ch., and Ph.D.. Admissions are based on NEET UG for MBBS, NEET PG for MD/MS, and NEET SS for DM/M.Ch. programs. Fees are affordable compared to private medical colleges, with MBBS costing around ₹60,000–₹80,000 per year, while PG programs range between ₹1–2 lakhs annually.
